YCF National Public Speaking Bootcamp 2021

Yu Cai Foundation (YCF) National Public Speaking Bootcamp 2021 is a development programme aims to provide knowledge, exposure and opportunity for students to practice English speaking skills through public speaking.

Yu Cai Foundation hopes to develop students to be both knowledgeable and confident in voicing their opinions, especially on the issues highlighted in United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), which Malaysia is a part of. It is hope that through the learning of the 17 UNSDG, we will be able to raise awareness on the current issues in Malaysia and globally amongst Malaysian students.

This bootcamp will be fully virtual. Students can access the learning materials and watch the videos at their own pace. At the end of the bootcamp, students will need to upload a 3 – 5 minutes video of them speaking about how they can contribute to UNSDG, to stand a chance to win amazing prizes!

Participants Eligibility

Participants must be:

  • A Malaysian citizen
  • Students studying Standard 4 to Standard 6
  • Students studying at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) in rural areas of Malaysia. Click here to check the list of participating schools

Programme.FAQs

YCF National Public Speaking Bootcamp 2021 is an online soft skills development programme aims to equip primary school students with critical thinking and English public speaking skills.

The bootcamp will be held from 1 November 2021 to 20 November 2021 (including video submission period). The winners for each state will be announced on 16 December 2021.

This bootcamp will be conducted online. The learning materials and videos will be provided in the “Participant Pack”. Participants can learn and watch the learning materials at their own pace, and there will be a mini quiz at the end of Week 1 and Week 2. Finally, participants will need to record, upload and submit a video of themselves speaking about “How can I contribute to UNSDG?” by 20 November 2021 to complete the bootcamp. Participants must be:
– Malaysian citizen
– Studying Standard 4 to Standard 6
– Studying at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) in rural areas of Malaysia listed here
– Able to access learning materials online

Yes, you can register on behalf of your child/ward as long as your child/ward is currently studying in the participating schools. Click here to check the list of participating schools.

Yes, you can register on behalf of your student(s) once you have gotten the parent/guardian’s consent.

No. It is FREE to participate in this bootcamp.

Unfortunately, this programme is only opened for students studying at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) only. Click here to check the list of participating schools.

You will received an automated email upon successful submission of the registration form. Your registration will then be reviewed against the eligibility criteria, and all successful participants will receive a Participant Pack through email on 1 November 2021. 

Knowledge and skills! Participants who successfully complete all tasks given in the bootcamp by 20 November 2021 will receive a Certificate of Participation and co-curriculum marks. See Q12 on the criteria.

Besides that, the 5 best speakers from EACH state will be awarded with cash prizes, Certificate of Achievement and co-curriculum marks.

Participants must upload their video on YouTube, complete the video submission form following the instructions given, and complete Week 1 and Week 2 quizzes to receive the Certificate of Participation. Participants shall then update their school and/or teacher with the certificate provided to get the co-curriculum marks.
